Stellenbosch Radio Matie Fm 92.6Fm, Joe Warren, provided the students with a insight (17h30 Thursday) into what is a completely new form of sport in the Eikestad. Patrick Vermaak got Woody all grown up into an Eagle instead of being the cutest of owls, but a most enjoyable ten minutes simply flew past. Radio Tygerberg 104Fm (hosted by Neels Rabe) at 21h00 and had Leon Engelbrecht and Marius Swart providing the background to their gymkhana car. Radio Namakwaland 93.4Fm (hosted by Pieter Lubbe) had the gymkhana on air on Wednesday 14h15 and Friday Radio West Coast 92.3Fm (hosted by Dirk Gallowitz) did likewise at 12h00. Also enjoyed good time on Radio Helderberg 93.6Fm (hosted by John Floyd) at 18h30 on Friday to make it five regional stations in support of the 1st Neelsie Student Centre Stellenbosch Gymkhana. Also thanks to Motors - Die Burger (Marnus Hattingh).

Entries are open and the 1st Neelsie Student Centre Stellenbosch Gymkhana is reality! Enter as soon as you can as the entry is expected to be over subscribed for the first time in 2011. Take note that newcomers to the sport are now only required to be members of an MSA registered motor club such as Witzenberg Motorklub and driver and navigator need to take out a Social MSA Competition Licence at R150 to qualify for entry, which currently costs R200. Still one of the cheapest forms of motorsport to get started and open to all categories of the sport.
On Saturday 28 August 2010 the Witzenberg Motorklub Gymkhana Championship will make it's debut in Stellenbosch when the 1st Neelsie Student Centre Gymkhana forms round 5 of the 2010 series. Thanks to the dedication of Leon and Monique Engelbrecht this event promises to be another welcome addition to the annual calender and early indications are that it will indeed attract another capacity entry of 60 teams.
Moving past the halfway mark Izak van Zyl and Danye Louw, Dynotech VW Golf MkII Turbo 2.0, find their dominance threatened by Fanie du Toit and Kobus Wilson Jnr in the impressive Mazda Rustler LDV 2.0 16v. Every class have picked up but the all ladies category have enjoyed a serious resurgance in recent events. The immenent return to action of Duncan Jepthas, VW Golf MkII 2.0 TSi, and Nashrene Schloss, Toyota Twin Cam Corolla, must have a few competitors worried.

Izak van Zyl and Danye Louw proved that they are worthy Gymkhana champions when they dominated round 5 of the Witzenberg Motorklub Championship in testing conditions to record their fifth successive 2010 overall victory in the Dynotech class G VW Golf MkII GTi 2.0 Turbo.
