The good news is that the route is still unchanged for the past 24hrs and the Entry List have now reached the 50 team mark. Unfortunately a broken gearbox have seen the withdrawal of the 1st Fairbridge Mall winners, Jacques du Plessis and Walter van Dyk. They will hopefully have this rapid class C Toyota and the CTI 800 Golf ready come 28 August when the 1st Neelsie Student centre Gymkhana takes place in Stellenbosch. André Dreyer, Francois Naudé and Ulrich Joseph entered rather late but we are happy to see them on the entry list and chances are that Parow Policeman, Andrew Pojie, might just make the starting list in his 535i powered 3 series BMW.
The Boo-Boo of the Day Award have already been allocated so please keep it neat and tidy on Saturday. Having drawn the route as posted it was sent to Robin Wakeford and Jaco Matthee who confirmed the accuracy and quality as perfect as as all saw, it was duly posted on the website. Big was my surprise to receive an urgent call at almost eleven tonight with the information from same gentlemen that the route was in fact incorrectly drawn? Well, you know who they are and the day is long!
Attached please find the new, correctly drawn route for your immediate attention - but, please check the website late Friday night as things could change again! (Certainly hope not!). Needless to say theChief Judge of Fact is not a happy chap and quite a few prints are now becoming scrap paper.
Up to 47 entries and weather still improving - now expected to be 9ºC Min and 18ºC Max with Clear Skies. Light Northerly wind at 9km/h until midday, rising to a 24km/h NW in the afternoon. Sunrise at 07h48 and Sunset at 17h55. Please note that we would appreciate assistance afterwards to clean up the route and stack the fencing. It is a short day and bound to be fairly cold by evening and your help would see everyone finish early.
43 Entries at the time of posting the route and provisional entry list. Still have no word from regulars such as Nashrene Schloss, Duncan Jepthas, Francois Naudé, Ulrich Joseph, Dee-Jay Booysen, Ryno Pentz, Albertus and Jacobus Loubser, Robin Wakeford, Jaco Matthee, Danie Smuts, Pieter Hugo, Morné Olivier, Brennon Green and André Dreyer.
With entries coming in slowly after the long SWC break the fourth round of the 2010 WBMK Gymkhana Championship will see competitors return to the popular Fairbridge Mall in Brackenfell. Happy hunting ground for Jacques du Plessis and Izak van Zyl, it will be interesting to see who have improved most during the break.
Weather is currently prdeicted as being 9ºC Minimum and 19ºC Maximum with Partly Cloudy conditions and wind fluctuating between a 15km/h NW and 28 km/h W. It is still very much winter and though no rain is on the cards you are advised to come prepared for the cold. Short daylight spell thus the event will start at 11h00 and finish 17h00 with prizegiving confirmed at Cheetahs in the Old Paarl Road (some 350m from the event venue) for 18h00.
Provisional Entry List and Route to be posted on Wednesday evening.
Entries for the 4th Fairbridge Mall Gymkhana in Brackenfell are open. Please note that times will be similar to the 1st Cape Gate Gymkhana as it is still winter and the days are fairly short.
Tight budgets and the Soccer World Cup have led to the decision to return to the Fairbridge Mall on 17 July 2010. This will be the fourth event at this popular venue and should once again prove extremely popular with all involved.
Izak wins – Fanie thrills!
Round four of the 2010 Witzenberg Motorklub Gymkhana Championship provided an exciting peek at what the future of the sport holds when Fanie du Toit and Kobus Wilson Jnr demonstrated a drastic new approach in their class A Mazda Rustler LDV 2.0 16v. Posting the fastest time of the day in absolutely spectacular fashion, taking...
