Round 1 of the 2019 Western Cape Rally Championship starts in the Darling, Swartland, district on Saturday 2 March 2019.

A popular debut round in 2019 the rally looks et to remain a fixture on the annual calender. Sadly Team 432 will be forced to miss the opening round and Team 467 will be absent for the entire season.


It is somehow fitting to see the second oldest motor club in South Africa organise the opening round of the Western Cape Rally Championship scheduled for Saturday 2 March 2019. Back in the 18th century some 29 farmers lived in an area named Groenkloof and the town of Darling was eventually established on the farm Langfontein in 1853. Ismaeel Davids (Rondebosch) and Yusuf Ganief (Surrey Estate) made their S5 debut in Darling in 2018 but this year they returned as outright favourites for overall victory in their ex-factory ID Paving 431 CCMCC S5 (S2000) Toyota Run X 4x4. It was wet in 2018 and very dry and sandy in 2019, both favouring the 4x4 and as expected they dominated.
